Prince was one of the most unique musicians of our time. He sadly died this past week from unknown causes. He was very popular during the 1980's. He had many great hit songs that have influenced many musicians around the world. He was such a talented musician; he could play most instruments, write, produce and perform like no other. One of my favourite Prince songs is " When Doves Cry". I am grateful to have been able to listen to his music during my youth. Prince will be missed by many who were touched by his music and presence.
David Bowie died January 10, 2016 a few days after his 69th birthday and the release of his latest album. He fought cancer for 18 months. He is one of the greatest British musicians who impacted my life greatly. David Bowie was born in Brixton, England on January 8, 1947. His first hit was the song "Space Oddity" in 1969. He co-wrote "Fame" with John Lennon which became his first American number one single in 1975. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1996. He was a musician that was an not only a singer but also a songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, arranger, painter and actor. He was an icon (a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol of something) of popular music for over five decades, and was considered by critics and other musicians as an innovator. He will be remembered for all that he contributed to music. Bowie was "a musical chameleon, changing and dictating trends as much as he has altered his style to fit, influencing fashion and pop culture." The Bagpipes is a strange and interesting instrument that most associate to Scottland Highlands. You may here it played at a special ceremony in Canada or with Scottish dancers. The origins however actually go back to ancient Greece and the MIddle East. Who new? Apparently places like Turkey and North Africa also play the bagpipes.
Johnny Bagpipes is a funny and amazing bagpiper. I thought you might find him entertaining and amazing too.
